Video Launch: Journey to Another Planet #Xperia1 #SonyAlpha

This summer I was fortunate enough to visit the beautiful landscapes of Kazakhstan & Kyrgyzstan. Starting my journey in Almaty, and advancing onto Karakol region of Kyrgyzstan. During my incredible three week journey, I was fortunate enough to hike up to altitudes of over 14,000ft, explore the second largest canyon in the world and make a number of friends for life.

As a SonyAlpha Imaging Ambassador, I had my usual equipment with me. My A7RIV, A7R3, and a selection of native lenses. This trip was my first to also carry along the Xperia 1 smartphone.

As you can imagine, these parts of the world are raw. With very little opportunity for using a computer or similar tool for editing. This is where the smartphone became a very handy device.

Using the Sony Imaging Edge software I could transfer images from my camera to phone in seconds. I have my Adobe Lightroom presets downloaded onto the phone which allowed for very quick and flexible editing on the move.

The Sony Imaging Edge software also made for the perfect remote shutter, as the phone works seamlessly with the camera for this function. Perfect for tripod images when we were pushing the boundaries of our equipment during blue hour.

The 21:9 screen with 4K quality on the mobile in something else, once you’ve edited an image or enjoyed a movie on there you’ll be hooked. I have only ever been an iPhone user so this was certainly something different for me.

The phone is very quick and never felt sluggish at all. The appearance is sleek with gorilla glass on both sides. I also love the fact it’s a USBC connection, a decision I expect from more brands going forward.

I’d love for you to check out the video from our journey across Central Asia with the #SonyAlpha and #Xperia.
